Oh my! What a way to start off the day with sorrowful information!
When a dear & esteemed colleague whom we look up to had passed on;
His name is synonymous with the treatment of thyroid disorders with radiation,
Because of him Nuclear Medicine in the Philippines flourished as a distinct specialization.

Oh Johnny, oh Johnny! He is called Ka Juan in our small medical community,
His deep baritone voice is unique when heard echoing in the walls of dear ol’ UST;
Moreso when he sings with gusto to the delight of his colleagues in the faculty,
As when he explains to patients all aspects in diseases found in Thyroidology.

Clinical practice with public service rendered through Kiwanis he excelled in blending,
From the U of Iowa to the shores of the Philippines he was relentless in teaching;
Never getting tired daily of his thyroid patients’ necks palpating,
Till the very end he spent his life active in service with his mentoring and caring.
